The Art of Skipping

 

I would like to retrace my footsteps

in a reminiscent way, skipping along

mud outlines of promises breached,

and retrieve the paint brush I once held.

On retreat from myself I walk

through woods dark and silent

leftovers from oil paint splattered

on large canvases, hanging –

I lie awake and wonder how

color is related to the pigment of sky.

Drinking from a river of aqua marine

blue I no longer can tell charcoal

sketches from underneath the bridge –

I would like to retrace my footsteps

in a reminiscent way, skipping promises.
