CALL FOR PAPERS / PROGRAMME OUTLINES
I. Theme
“Education”: Practices, Challenges, Strategies of Intergenerational Dialogue
The theme “education” surfaced during the final stages of the XII edition of the Forum. It did so as a topic at the crossroads of teaching practices (formal/informal) and the transfer of knowledge contents on the one hand, and of mediation/elaboration of values in different dialogical contexts (particularly the intergenerational – the teacher-student relationship – and intercultural ones) on the other.necessarilyThe theme “education” surfaced during the final stages of the XII edition of the Forum. It did so as a topic at the crossroads of teaching practices (formal/informal) and the transfer of knowledge contents on the one hand, and of mediation/elaboration of values in different dialogical contexts (particularly the intergenerational – the teacher-student relationship – and intercultural ones) on the other.
The pandemic crisis notoriously brought about significant reorganization issues in the methods and contents of education/teaching, highlighting unbridgeable gaps and social-cultural disparities.
A number of areas of confrontation can therefore be envisaged in order to organize our work sessions:
1) Education/Teaching: two tenets that are worth reflecting upon from an intergenerational and intercultural perspective.
2) The debate on form a land in formal education when confronted with the challenges posed by E-learning, experiences in the world and fragmented realities.
3) Educational and teaching projects in various areas of the world, the problems to be dealt with, the interventions. Among the themes which already emerged in a former Forum feedback: “La escuela nueva. Educational project in South American countries”; “The impact of teachers training pedagogies”; “Language policies in educational systems”
4) A number of specific themes: Gender Beliefs in Education; Social Disparities in Education.
During the course of last year’s Forum there surfaced the need for a plenary session devoted to the presentation of the “Resolutions”.
In the words of Louiza Nigro, who attended the XII edition of the Forum: “By adding such plenary each participant will present orally a resolution part that gives some suggestions or plans that may be realized or might get support from any Eu or global fund. In addition to this , this part makes each speaker who worked hard on his/ her research to underline the targeted aim of his work and make it valuable”.
I embrace her advice and I encourage everyone to freely suggest themes and hints.
“Global” (the connected world) is only an oppressive façade if the idea is not conceived as a network of interconnecting intersections and trajectories which create different special and temporal planes. Such are cultures and generations that engage in dialogue and freely exchange knowledge.

II. Subscription process
This Call for Papers is directed to young people of all nationalities aged 18 to 35.
Due to the current sanitary emergency and the related restrictions, the 2020 edition of the Forum will be held online. Participants will interact through an ad hoc platform. All the details will be provided in due time.
Most of the Forum will be held in English, due to the technical difficulties posed by online translation. The possibility of speaking other languages or of providing consecutive translation will be taken into consideration in case of need.
Applications must be submitted either in English or in Italian through the specific online form available on the organization website www.castellodiduinopoesia.org. English and Italian will also be the languages for all written communications between applicants and the organization. Applications or queries in other languages will not necessarily be accepted.
Application deadline and selection process
Applicants need to submit the title and the abstract of their proposed papers upon filling the online form (see details below).
The deadline is 23.59 hours (CET) on Saturday, September 19th. Applications received later will be accepted at the discretion of the organization.
The selection will be based on the assessment of the proposed abstracts (quality, originality, pertinence to the Forum theme) and on the applicants’ personal profiles.
Papers can be individual or collective (2 or more applicants). The selection results will be published by September 21st, 2020. The final paper must be received by September 30th 2020

Upon fully attending the Forum all participants will receive a certificate of participation that can be used to obtain university credits or in a résumé.
The organization may decide to select a number of papers for publication (with the author’s consent).
All papers will be published online on the website www.castellodiduinopoesia.org (with the author’s consent) under a Creative Commons Licence.

IV. Cultural and Artistic Contributions
The final day of the Forum is traditionally characterized by cultural events (music performances, poetry readings, meetings with poets and Trieste public figures, exhibits…) which add to the framework of sociality that characterizes the Forum, in order to allow for friendship and creativity.
All participants are therefore encouraged to offer a video contribution to be shared with the others in order to illustrate their countries’ and their cultures’ characteristic motifs, dances, images, instruments etc. These contributions will necessarily need to be recorded up front and provided to the organization in time to allow for a wide distribution. Participants who will offer such contributions will have the opportunity to briefly introduce their works during the live conference.
