About Castello di Duino… 2014-2015
The XI Edition of the International Poetry Competition Castello di Duino is coming soon to its final week, between 17th to 22nd March 2015 in Trieste and Duino (Italy). Meanwhile first site are beginning to writing about. We put in this page the space that them had led for the Competition, before we publish the official press review at the conclusion of the events, at the end of March/beginning of April.
- The Pacific Ridge School of California cited in its publication (one on 10th April 2014 and another on 29th Genuary 2015) the International Poetry Competition Castello di Duino, with the relative selected winner Khalid Abudawas. - “Sophomore Wins International Poetry Award
- On March 23, 2014, Khalid Abudawas ’16 was awarded the “Plate Sargio Penco” award from the International Poetry and Theatre Competition “Castello di Duino – Poetry and Solidarity Language of the Peoples.” He traveled to the Castle of Duino in Trieste, Italy, to receive the award. His poem, entitled “Palestinian Fears,” was the only American entry to receive an award, and was selected from nearly 1,000 submissions worldwide. The poetry competition celebrates the “care of language” as the main medium of understanding and solidarity between peoples on interpersonal, intergenerational and intercultural levels. Khalid’s poem will be published by Ibiskos Risolo Publishing House along with other awarded poems and honorable mention poems.”
–2015:
- “Khalid Abudawas ’16 Pursues International Expression and International Affairs
- Congratulations to junior Khalid Abudawas, whose poem, “A Story for the Mirror,” was selected for publication by the International Poetry Competition Castello di Duino. Profits from the book will help provide care for child victims of war. Khalid is also the president and founder of the Muslim Youth Committee, under the umbrella of the San Diego Council of American Islamic Relations. Last summer, he was chosen to attend a Muslim Youth Leadership conference in Sacramento where he was trained in civil engagement and media advocacy.”
2. For the 2015 Edition, in addition to the winners page, we alredy have a draft of the program, and the first Italian big site are beginning to writing about, as www.leggeretutti.net, that on Februrary 3rd published the article Duino, il Castello della Poesia. Below the extracts:
- “Sei giornate d’incontri, reading e workshop rivolti ai giovani. Con un premio letterario che valorizza i talenti internazionali ed educa alla solidarietà. (..) Dai suoi esordi ad oggi il Concorso, inserito nella più ampia Festa della Letteratura e della Poesia in calendario dal 17 al 22 marzo prossimi tra Duino e Trieste, ha coinvolto ben 11000 giovani poeti provenienti da 90 Paesi dei quattro continenti e un pubblico sempre più numeroso e appassionato. (..) La manifestazione prevede sei giornate d’incontri, reading, workshop, spettacoli teatrali e musicali (..) Anche quest’anno faranno da corollario alla premiazione molte iniziative: dal 17 al 22 marzo, passando per il 21 marzo, Giornata Mondiale della Poesia proclamata dall’Unesco, Duino e Trieste si trasformeranno in un grande laboratorio poetico-letterario.
